EXTREMITY

[it was 2002 summer and i was crossing Andhra in a non-AC compartment after a spine treatment in Vellore . The temperature outside was probably around 48 degree Celsius when I, with my in pain fragile spine decided to get up and open the window. This poem is a witness to what i saw outside]

The date tree is standing alone
on the barren field
Some herbs are the only one
witnessing its existence,
The heat scorches, trying to torture out
the history of all creation
But the date determined, stubborn
not to reveal the truth.
One farmer found, challenging mother earth
to prove her fertility
The secreted water from his body, always ready to kiss the soil
maintaining the laws of gravitation,
His demanding stomach never gives him the chance of pleading God,
he continues his efforts,
His little dreams give him the fuel for his survival
he loves his family.
God has become one here
He reside in the shades of ‘babul’
Death is only a mockery of life
and life only a residue,
The pain has become only a supplement of respiration
suffering a partner
Nature’s fury shows her presence everywhere
but this is only another way of expressing her love.

ATTIC

Hoping, the breeze will take the shape of a storm
The rest metamorphoses into unrest, leading to a revolution,
The loss of identity inspire to germinate Mankind,
The thoughts sediment like in sand clock in my attic.
The clock, the witness, of every breadth taken (or not taken);
Life betray but death never;
Dreams reside in the clouds, felt, but never consumed;
Sacrifice redefines pleasure.
Collecting bits of life in a mindful
Many are lost, making the picture incomplete,
Today the rain outside had made my attic wet
Need a storm to make it dry.

THE DEATH

They saw the corpse go past them.
There were no sufficient rituals or sadness,
Though we all were aware of his reputation;
He was well known for his honesty, hard work and loyalty;
He gave lot to the society without taking much from it;
His presence gave comfort to many; gave inspiration to a lover,
His actions preached sincerity, after defining the concept of duty.

I knew him for a long time
I felt void 'noticing' his unnoticed death
As I try to 'celebrate' his death through some words

As I wonder in the death of the dog.

WORDS

They are like the small hilly train,
Rolling, looping and tumbling down the slopes at his own merit,
The wind gushes in and out, helping the traditional fuel to provide,
Stopping in the middle, gathering company,
They are my words, forming the lines......the tracks of my poems.

They are like sailing yachts,
Propelled by the naughty 'little boy' zeal,
Challenging the impossible to achieve, defeating the fate,
The rebel germinates, born out of the ashes,
They are my words, forming the lines......the arrays of my poems.

It's RAINING

A melting drop of dream touches my skin,
Tasting salty? Like my lover’s tears? Precious.
Sweet? Like her smile? Purifying.
Sour? Like her humour? Propelling.
Bitter? Like her lessons? Proper.
A gust of wind swipe out memories,
It’s raining.
It was the time we talked to the trees
The time we drew pictures out of the clouds
We discovered new constellations
We escaped time to create moments
We wove poetry to frame an epic
We sang to each other.
The lonely nights do not betray
The life gives a reason to live!
The dreamer change the dreams
But keeps the shadow intact,
Keeps the memories treasured
I’m still in Love.
